Today we combined two of Ms. Jessica’s favorite topics, Music and Math! Did you know that the a longer bar creates a lower note? Ask you preschoolers for all the specifics, because they picked up on this relationship quickly!
We talked more about how length is measured. Distance, time, height are all things that you can talk to your kids about to reinforce the idea of length.
This book from Scholastic’s Math Counts Series has amazing pictures and helped me illustrate some of the things that we were talking about. I love a books that can give the kids a visual and a way for closure at the end of a session.
Lastly, we said a short poem, sang a medium length song, and a really long song. Can you guess which is which?
One, two, buckle my shoe. Three, four, shut the door. Five, six pick up sticks. Seven, eight lay them straight. Nine, ten do it again.
I wanted to take a moment to share with you some Easter options for those of you who may be interested. Please note, you do not have to join or be a member of Good Shepherd to attend these services. I have personally found that this community to be welcoming and warm to all.
We also have an “egg- citing” opportunity that the Dole Institute has extended to our family and friends. They are hosting a Easter Egg Hunt and Roll with crafts, bunnies, stories, photos and more!
Come see us this Saturday at the Lawrence Public Library! We will be one of the participants at this year’s preschool fair. This is a great opportunity to check out many of the Lawrence’s Early Childhood Education centers all in one place. We’ll have information about summer camps, VBS and next year’s classes as well! We hope to see you there!
Preschool Fair begins at 9AM and goes until Noon on Saturday April 6, 2019.
